Rich media


This is a term you have to get used to. Over the past few years rich media has proven to be extremely effective and the click through rates are amongst the highest in the online advertising industry. Rich media is usually designed in flash and because of the powerful features that Flash has it can combine quality graphics with sound and fantastic animation. This allows the advertiser to really get attention focused on the user.

On click or mouse over actions also allows for more functionality and all of these can ensure good click through ratios. Java, JavaScript and DHTML can also be used for rich media but we recommend the use of Macromedia Flash.

Rich media is generally more expensive but the ROI on it is generally much higher than with normal banner advertising. The placement of these banners can be important but the actual design is the most important. Use of colours that are in complete contrast to the page it will appear on and the use of human elements makes a difference between being noticed and melting away.

Sounds can be added as well and that makes being noticed alot easier. We recommend using mouse over functionality where sounds and animation can play during any mouse over event.
